The Nova Scotia Chess Association is a non-profit organization established to help promote the game of chess in the Province of Nova Scotia, by providing a web site for news and other information related to chess. In addition, the Nova Scotia Chess Association organizes the annual Nova Scotia Closed Chess Championship and the Nova Scotia Junior Championship to determine our provincial chess champions.

The Chess Federation of Canada is the national body that oversees organized competitive chess in Canada. Nova Scotia has two governors on the Chess Federation of Canada. They are:
